This technical support falls within the framework of PRORESA – the Programme to Strengthen Food Security – to meet the challenges of chronic food and nutritional insecurity in Mali (2016-2021). The overall development objective which PRORESA is working towards is to reduce the food and nutritional insecurity of vulnerable populations in Mali.
It aims to improve the management of annual interventions, accountability and capitalisation within the National Food Security System by setting up a reliable, effective monitoring and evaluation system at the level of the Food Security Commission that meets international standards and allows consensus among the various actors at national level. |

Short-Term Technical Assistance to the Greater Amman Municipality in the Accreditation of the Health and Business Inspection Department, HBID Labs (2010-2012) |
The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) was established in 2003 to protect public health and consumer interests in the area of food safety and hygiene. It received support from the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration between 2005 and 2007 and later from the European Union in order to attain the EU best practices in the field of laboratory accreditation.
This specific technical assistance was designed to streamline the fragmented food control responsibilities between the JFDA and all other government ministries and institutions and to enhance the technical and managerial capacities of inspection laboratories in the Greater Amman Municipality. |

Health Sector Assessment and EC Programme Design (2006-2007) |
Assessment of the status of the health care sector reforms and of the conditions for the successful development and implementation of a government health sector programme. Assistance to the EC in the preparation of its assistance under TACIS AP 2006 and follow-up activities within the new financial perspective of the European New Neighbourhood Instruments (ENNI) in support of the development and implementation of the government’s health sector programme. |

Support to the National Hygiene Institute for the Strengthening of its Institutional, Organisational and Technical Capacities (2007-2008) |
The general objectives of the present technical assistance were: (1) to provide the National Hygiene Institute (NHI) with modern statutes and missions that take into account its assets, the national policy and the context of biology in Moroccan public health, the European acquis and WHO recommendations; and (2) to strengthen, through reorganisation and restructuring, the NHI and the network of public health laboratories in order to create an efficient tool for the country’s public health, monitoring, epidemiological monitoring and health security, as a compliment to the existing clinical surveillance network, in conformity with the acquis communautaire and in the context of bringing the NHI closer to the international network of national laboratories currently being developed by the WHO for the country’s preparation and response to epidemics. |

Assistance in the restoration and stimulation of the health sector and support to the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene (MHPH) in the formulation of policies and strategies (particularly sector reform), their implementation and their monitoring/evaluation. Implementation of the necessary tools for the planning, monitoring and evaluation activities of the MHPH to contribute to improving the performance and impact of the European Commission’s interventions.
